Tails From The Road - Mischeif and Mishaps While Walking The Dogs

When walking with the dogs things don't always go as planned. Just when I think I have a plan as how the walk will go I find out my walking buddies have a plan of their own.  Call it mischief or mishaps they always make the walks fun, exciting, and unpredictable.

Some things I have learned from the road:

Sibling rivalry can be challenging.  When two pups are circling a tree trying to win a non-verbal argument over who's spot is best be careful not to get tied to the tree...

Everyone will know who is in control if you grab onto a pole to prevent the dog from dragging you down the street.

Check for holes BEFORE bagging...

No matter how many times you ask, the dog will not tell you how the harness works.

When playing fetch in a fenced yard,..throw the ball low.

So what if it's the middle of the street. When they gotta go, they gotta go!

Walking with dogs...you never know what the walk is going to bring.  It's always unpredictable but it is always fun.

  1. Lol! So true! . . .and not to mention when the dogs see other people walking their dogs. They can be louder and more obnoxious sounding than the fire engines or ambulances that go by, lol! :)

    1. When I see other dogs approaching I always try to sneak by hoping the dogs I am walking won't notice. That rarely works out as planned...

    2. Lol, I tried that as well! I have more success with using the 'leave it' and 'come' commands though. Also, I remember while watching the show "It's Me Or The Dog", that the trainer (I forget her name), that when a dog acted up, she would turn and walk the dog in the opposite direction for a little. She'd repeat that until the dog stopped reacting to the presence of other dogs. In my opinion...that works best with larger dogs, because you can shorten the leash and control where they look and turn without turning their leash into a noose :)
